Go deep …

Therapy succeeds – and fails – for many reasons. Therapy succeeds when we can go deep, taking a holistic view of what nourishes your mind, body and spirit. This may mean uncovering and healing things in the past that told you the false story that you were anything less than beautiful and whole.

You’ll leave our sessions feeling like a person, rather than a symptom. Together we will uncover those blocks that keep you from inner peace, love and joy.

I specialize in working with people who have had difficult early experiences, including trauma, and struggle with eating disorders and addictive behaviors.

We will often use one or more of these approaches:

Insight-Oriented Talk Therapy

Insight-oriented talk therapy can help you to gain self-understanding by exploring past experiences and their impact on current behaviors and motivations, ultimately promoting personal growth and positive change. Insight-oriented therapy emphasizes the importance of understanding oneself, including one's thoughts, feelings, motivations, and past experiences, to address current challenges. We may explore childhood (including

traumas), relationships, and other significant life events to identify patterns.

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing

EMDR is a research-based method of treatment that is used for a wide variety of concerns, including trauma, eating disorders, anxiety, depression, and addiction. Using EMDR, the therapist leads the client through a series of eye movements (or tapping) that allows gentle resolution of the root cause of the problem.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) has been extensively researched and proven effective for the treatment of trauma. It uses directed eye movements or other

types of bilateral stimulation to help a person to process traumatic events and develop new positive thought patterns.

One advantage of using EMDR is that you do not need to bring up all the details of the trauma. Instead, we look at enduring and broad patterns that create problems in today’s life.

EMDR is also especially helpful in working with eating disorders. EMDR protocols can help decrease urges (such as to binge or purge), helping to change the frequency of symptom use. EMDR is also a way to resolve past experiences which can lead to or prolong eating disorders, low self-esteem and body image concerns.

EMDR can help to resolve root causes of eating disorders and body-image distress. Individuals with trauma are more likely to develop eating disorders than those without traumas, such as bullying, relationship disruptions, significant losses, physical and or/sexual abuse, or neglect. EMDR provides a way to work on and resolve stuck traumas or aspects of traumas in a way that allows for full resolution. It can be especially effective for people who have found that talk therapy does not fully allow them to

Mindfulness

Mindfulness is a popular approach and that’s for a good reason. Mindfulness is involves

paying attention to the present moment without judgment. It encompasses being aware of

one's thoughts, feelings, sensations, and surroundings with an open and curious attitude.

Mindfulness:

- Reduces stress and anxiety

- Improves emotional regulation

- Enhances self-awareness

- Promotes compassion and empathy

- Increases focus and concentration

- Improves sleep quality

- Boosts immune function

Some mindful practices we may use include:

- Meditation and walking meditation

- Body Scan

- Mindful Listening

- Mindful Eating

Integration Therapy

Psychedelic-assisted therapy involves using medicines and plants such as ketamine, psilocybin and MDMA to induce an expanded state of consciousness during sessions with a

trained professional. Psychedelic integration allows you to focus on what happens before and after the experience to make meaning, deepen understanding, and apply new insights to your life. Psychedelic integration therapy is beneficial even without your integration therapist being present for your journey. What does this mean exactly?

During work with these powerful medicines people experience a range of complex thoughts, emotions, and even memories of this and past lifetimes. What comes up during a medicine journey can be a meaningful part of your healing process. Integration can help you make sense of the meaning during the experience itself, and in the days and months to come. Without integrating your journey, these insights can slip away like sand in the wind.

You’ve invested so much in your own growth – it’s important to keep that going. Please reach out to learn more about psychedelic preparation, integration and support.
